Coffee is the second most traded product in the world after oil.
The world’s most expensive coffee is made from monkey poo! Kopi Luwak is a rare and gourmet coffee from Indonesia that is made from coffee beans that have passed through the digestive system of monkeys. Experts say the ‘monkey business’ gives the drink a unique ‘earthy’taste. The monkeys, known as Palm Toddy Cats, are actually Palm Civets, which are tree-dwelling cat-like creatures. They can be found throughout Southeast Asia.
Rotten or frost damaged beans are known as “stinkers”.
A coffee tree lives for 50 years.
Johann Sebastian Bach liked coffee so much he wrote ‘Koffee Kantate’.
Brazil had a postage stamp that smelt of coffee in December 2001.
